Aloha! I live in Ookala on the Big Island of Hawaii (northeast coast) and have a Google alert for “Ookala,” so I get all your photos and updates. She’s so beautiful! She got mama’s dimples! Where did you get the name?
PS The place name Ookala is pronounced Oh-oh-kah-lah– there is a “hiccup” stop between the two Os, like uh-oh, but pronounced Oh-oh. How are you pronouncing the name?
heh, thanks. in russian, “ookala” may mean “somebody who says ‘uuuuuuu'”, which is in turn is a sound of a petulant child who is denied ice cream when having flu. pronounced “uuuuuukala”, with very long “u” sound (like in word “moon” if it was said by a cow).
it is amazing coincidence that there’s an actual city with this name! can we move there?
Also by coincidence we spent a week in Maui when I was about 3 months pregnant!
I would’ve loved to spend my whole pregnancy there. What a healthy magickal place!
Hey Papa are there any Maui photos we can post here? ;)
Too cute! You must come visit one day, bring the little ookala to Ookala.
If you go to my website About page, there’s a photo of my home with a bit of a descrip at the bottom of the page. Here’s the link: http://www.thecanaryreport.org/about
The Ookala community is currently fighting off a developer who wants to build an industrial business right in the middle of our paradise. The link to our community’s website is here: http://protectookala.org/ .
